We, at Miller Technologies, are aware of the possible threat to our nation’s cyber security and wanted to reach out to make sure you are secure and prepared should a cyber-attack happen. Homeland Security is encouraging every person, business and organization to act now as a cyber war could quickly escalate, affecting citizens world-wide. We are here to assist and inform you.




What is a Cyber Attack?

A cyber-attack is a deliberate exploitation of your systems and/or network. Cyber-attacks use malicious code to compromise your computer, logic or data and steal, leak or hold your data hostage. Cyber-attack prevention is essential for every person, business and organization.


Here are some examples of common cyber attacks and types of data breaches:


  • Identity theft, fraud, extortion

  • Malware, phishing, spamming, spoofing, spyware, Trojans and viruses

  • Stolen hardware, such as laptops or mobile devices

  • Denial of service and distributed denial of service attacks

  • Breach of access

  • Password sniffing

  • System infiltration

  • Website defacement

  • Private and public Web browser exploits

  • Instant message abuse

  • Intellectual property (IP) theft or unauthorized access


It can be difficult to know where to begin when it comes to cyber safety. There is so much information out there that it can be overwhelming. Below are some examples of how to secure and prepare for a possible cyber attack:


  • Act as if the attack is coming

  • Test back up systems and ensure manual overrides are working for critical infrastructure

  • Verify all remote users’ access & ensure endpoint protection

  • Use multi-factor authentication

  • Keep security software up to date & back up your data

  • Train your staff

  • Use a true Firewall
